About

My name is Grant Pointon, and I am currently a PhD Candidate at the University of Utah. I have served as the lead statistical analyst and consultant on several research projects, but my focus in the last 5 years has been virutal/augmented reality systems (e.g., Hololens), perception of action, and data visualization. I am currently focused on my dissertation work, where I have developed a novel method of visualizing grouped univariate data. Much of my data science experience has come from two summer fellowships at the Sorenson Impact Center. My work at Sorenson has focused on developing data tools for the Opportunity Zone Catalyst Challenge, developing data dashboards for criminal justice systems, running statistical analyses to measure the impact of early childhood literacy programs, and modeling the relationship between mobility patterns and COVID spread in the United States. Additionally, I have worked on a grant from the Gates Foundation to better model and predict college going rates in the US.

Much thanks to Yusuke Ishimi for developing the theme I have used for this website.
